National Youth Agency (NYA)
Welcome
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in joining the National Youth Agency (NYA). Whether you are applying to become our Trustee and Chair of the Education, Training and Standards (ETS) Committee, or our new Chief Finance (and Governance) Officer (CFO), we are thrilled that you are considering contributing to our mission.
At NYA, we are proud to be both the steward and champion of youth work in England. Young people today face increasingly complex challenges—from social inequality and mental health pressures to climate change and digital disruption. Our mission is to ensure that youth work remains a vital force in helping young people thrive—building resilience, confidence, and opportunity.
About the Chief Finance (and Governance) Officer Role
As CFO, you will play a central role in shaping NYA’s financial strategy, governance, and sustainability. You’ll lead on compliance, risk management, and digital security, ensuring NYA operates with integrity and transparency. Your leadership will support our growth, strengthen partnerships, and enable strategic investment in programmes that transform young lives.
We are looking for candidates with a sharp financial mind, strategic vision, and a collaborative spirit. You’ll be committed to our mission and values, and help expand the diversity and expertise of our leadership team.
About the Trustee & Chair of ETS Committee Role
This is a pivotal leadership role for youth work training and professional standards in England. The ETS Committee is responsible for the guardianship and regulation of professional Youth Work qualifications, working across the statutory and voluntary sectors. As Chair, you will lead the development and protection of youth work qualifications, ensuring a thriving and highly skilled workforce. You’ll also help align NYA’s broader strategic direction with the regulatory duties of the ETS Committee, navigating challenges and shaping the future of youth work education.
We are seeking someone with deep expertise in youth work, a strong understanding of training and education, and the ability to lead with flexibility, creativity, and strategic insight.
Both roles are critical to NYA’s future. Whether you are shaping the standards of youth work education or ensuring our financial and governance excellence, you will be joining a passionate team dedicated to making a lasting difference.
We look forward to learning more about you and how you can help us continue transforming the lives of young people through the power of youth work.
Yours faithfully,
Leigh Middleton
